Prior to commencing on design, the client noted that they wanted something that would “brighten up” the existing area, since there was not a lot of natural light in this particular area of the home. They were adamant about keeping the existing configuration of millwork, and appliances, but wanted to also integrate a small bar area, into the space. We decided to modernize the space, so that it would be bright and fun, yet versatile enough, if the home were to be put on the market in the near future, it wouldn’t necessarily deter a buyer, by being too custom. We decided to go with a two-tone color palette, consisting of bright white and navy, and applied matte black fixtures, hardware, and a sink base. The quartz backsplash and countertops were installed to bring the two colors together. The waterfall edge, added a more luxe component to the kitchen to the small bar area; from the direction in which the kitchen is approached. A high-performance wall covering was added to the areas in between of the open shelving, by the bar area, and next to the refrigerator.
