The clients’ desire was to change around the layout of the existing kitchen and neighboring dining room, into a kitchen that had an “open area”, and a “hidden area”, with a speak-easy style, flush door that was integrated into a wall, to appear as a panel, which led into the “hidden area” (formerly the dining room). In the hidden area, the clients wanted this to be the more “back-of-house” area, where their Samsung brand double oven was housed, a Samsung brand refrigerator, and a bar area; which included a stainless undermount sink, and beverage refrigerator. On the wall, we implemented open shelving, with a countertop to ceiling installation of 2×20 white porcelain tiles, in a herringbone pattern. We included a large amount of storage in this hidden area. We also installed an Elkay brand water dispenser, flush in the wall, close to the door, leading to the open area. Porcelain countertops were fabricated and installed in this area.
